Montessori Curriculum

Exercises of Practical Life

The Practical Life exercises aims at developing the child’s independence, intelligence, concentration, co-ordination, control, motor skills, social skills and self-discipline.

Sensorial Activities

They are for the development and refinement of the child’s five senses. They do this by touching, seeing, smelling, tasting, listening, and exploring the specially designed materials.

Language

Language is involved in every aspect of the Montessori environment but it is also introduced through a step-by-step programme beginning with each child being introduced to sounds and words developing their reading and writing skills.

Mathematics

The mathematics materials help the child learn and understand mathematical concepts by working with concrete materials. It teaches them the study of form, quantity, numbers and relations. It allows him to understand analysis and clear reasoning.

Cultural Extensions

Culture is made up of History, Geography, Science, Nature and Fine Arts. The subjects develop each child’s individual skills, increase their vocabulary and reading skills, increase their knowledge and teach them aspects of different cultures.

Music and Movement

Music provides children an opportunity to refine their movements and coordination via different songs and rhymes. It also provides them with a way of self-expression. Music helps develop vocabulary and improve communication skills.

The Goals of Montessori Education are to:

Develop a positive attitude towards school and learning.
Develop a healthy sense of self-confidence.
Form extended habits of concentration, initiative, and persistence.
Provide a carefully planned, stimulating environment where children are free to respond to their natural drive to work and learn.
Awaken the child’s sense of imagination.
Encourage the child’s desire for independence and high-self esteem.
Help the child develop the kindness, courtesy, and self-discipline that will allow him/her to become a full member of society.
Encourage the child’s inherent love of learning.

Our Team

One of the most notable differences between Montessori teachers and traditional teachers is the enormous trust Montessori teachers place in the developmental abilities of the children. It takes a tremendous amount of faith to “follow the child”. It is so much easier to say to the children, follow where I lead and no one will get lost. Nonetheless, with careful observation and planning, Montessori teachers remain constantly alert to the direction each child is heading and actively works to help them succeed.

Out team of teachers are not the center of attention in the classroom. Their role centers on the preparation and organization of learning materials to meet the needs and interests of the children. The focus is on children learning, not on teachers teaching.
